The problem

In 2000, independent games and PC-hardware coverage online was scattered and mostly corporate. I wanted to build my own publication, and learn to run one end to end.

What I built

I built and ran the whole thing myself: the site, the publishing system, the editorial direction, and the community.

The mechanic

A full games-and-hardware publication: news, game reviews and first-looks, PC hardware reviews, a weekly price guide, and a UBB community forum, with review and preview access from publishers like Activision, Interplay, Infogrames (Atari), and Rockstar.

Outcome

My first web venture (2000–2001), and the origin of the editorial and community instinct that runs through my work ever since, most directly Character Creators. Preserved in the Internet Archive.
